Beautifully settled in
The cows have settled in beautifully. It seems impossible we have only had them for 4 days. Parsley (left photo) is top of the pecking order, followed by Sage (right photo with her calf) and then Thyme (top photo on the 1st Sept). So far it is a very gentle pecking order (unlike the head butting of the goats) where often a simple lowering of the head will ensure that one cow gives way to the other, although we are sure it can be a little more brutal if needs be!! Thyme knows her place but already she is far more confident with us and whilst not yet eating from our hands, she will happily eat from the jug and allow us to give her neck a good scratch at the same time.

The grass is looking pretty well eaten in several places and of course it is also being very well manured – cows do produce a LOT of poo. Tomorrow Mike should have finished their pole barn and we will then probably move the electric fencing to both give them some fresh grazing and access to their shelter.
