Our first mud???
Today has been VERY wet (as the clouds in the photo show) and we are realizing more and more that we need to do far more to get the water coming off our roofs, AWAY from the land. All the areas of developing mud are all where the water containers positioned under drainpipes, are overflowing directly onto the fields and paddocks. The ducks are very happy, the goats and sheep less so and of course the animal ‘traffic’ is only going to make matters worse.
Relaxed at Home
The good news is that the fields themselves are holding up fairly well and the 4-acre is actually remarkably dry considering the deluges we have been getting in this last week. Of course, pressure points such as gates and water troughs plus entrances to barns and shelters, are always going to suffer, but our immediate task is to get as much water as we can directed away from areas that are already saturated!!
One thing that is giving us hope is that we 'know' we cannot possibly get as wet and muddy as we did at Lamorna... (well, we hope we know...)
