Jack the lad has got down to business straight away!! This morning we were greeted with the sight of a red bum: that of Mrs White’s!! This is very good news and puts the start of our lambing season at around 6th March!
In theory a sheep’s gestation period is 145 days but we know from previous years that it is very rare for sheep to give birth on the exact ‘due’ date!! What we are hoping for is that Jack catches all the girls in this first cycle, a cycle being 17 days (i.e. the length of time between each sheep’s season). Our plans are thus to lamb first and then start kidding but as with all good plans, this may change!!!
As for the photo, we are not sure who is looking the most pleased!!!!
