We are winning the battle to reduce the amount of water pouring onto our land. We now have the guttering in place on the barn which takes all excess water into the ditch between the 4-acre and 3-acre fields and today, David fitted a flexible pipe to one of the down pipes on the stables. This pipe also runs to a ditch, the one between our land and John and Sonya’s and this now means the poultry area should also be a little less saturated!
Of course we cannot stop the rain falling directly onto the land and as we have clay based soil and live in the south West, we are going to get wet land. Mind you, so far we have had a pretty dry summer and autumn – fingers crossed it continues!!
