Success!!
Bum washing round 3 was highly successful today in that all five cows now have very clean back ends. Getting there was not however our finest hour: once again we could not get the cows in the field shelter so instead led them into the collecting area outside the barn and then into the barn itself. That went well but the actual washing then had to take place outside the barn where not only did it get rather muddy but Jack ended up falling over and cutting her wrist on a piece of old soil pipe. The words ‘tetanus’ and ‘injections’ were mooted… and ignored!!!
Relaxed at Home
More concerning was whether we had undermined the trust the cows have developed in us over the last few weeks. A couple of hours later we went back out to see them and thank goodness… all five came galloping over to say hi with Parsley, Sage and Thyme allowing us to give them a chuckle. Phew!!!
Back in the bottom 3-acre field (which is where this photo was taken), normal service was then resumed.
