Our first snow!!
Our first snow, on a day when we also had hail, rain, sun, sleet and rainbows. The snow began at around 8am (following the rain and wind that had prevailed most of the night) and kept going for most of Jack’s morning rounds. The goats said they would prefer to stay inside and so they did. The cows and sheep were all snuggled up in their newly strawed-out field shelters and were very grateful for the slices of hay we took them. The poultry did NOT fall over each to get out when we opened their doors, indeed, they fell over each other to stay IN!! And then there were the alpacas who let the snow fall on their backs, tucked into the outside hay and looked like they had not a care in the world…
Relaxed at Home
When the snow disappeared, we were left with VERY VERY VERY wet ground. We are due more rain for a few more days and then they tell us we should be drying up a little. Certainly hope so, or else our hopes to be able to keep the cows in the bottom 3-acre for a bit longer will be very short lived!!
