Chilled goats
As you can see, all is good with the goats. The bullying is now quite infrequent and daytime bleating from the Boers similarly rare! Curds was back in season today and yet again, Pepper showed no interest. Hmmmm... Pickle’s next season is due Christmas Day – we hope her ‘amour’ down the road might still be available!
Relaxed at Home
It’s been a fabulous day, lots of blue sky and sunshine and where the land is squelchy, it was definitely less so!! We are not in a rush to put the cows in their collecting area unless we get a lot more rain and we start to see serious poaching. We keep being told (by the weather forecasters) we may have rain (hence wanting to get the area sorted) but aside from a bit of drizzle and mist, it is delightfully dry for this time of year. Fellow Dexter-keeping friends were over today and declared our field to be in much better condition than any of theirs and they never bring their cows inside.
With the cow collecting area more or less finished (just the 'hurdle' fence to finish), we are now definitely going to get going with the goat path – the scaffolding planks we have in place as our temporary path are doing a reasonable job but they are only single file and also getting a little poo-covered and slippy now!! We think Curds in particular will be very pleased. If she has to go anywhere near wet ground or mud she is VERY unhappy!!
