Weather!!
Well, the weather has been truly vile these last few days and we are now the wettest we have been all winter. Everything is suffering to a greater or lesser degree. The cows have a very soggy entrance to one side of their field shelter where the water is coming up ‘underneath’ the mats; the sheep and alpacas now stand in mud at the gate waiting for their food and the goats dare not venture out at all!!

Jack re-laid the paving slabs outside the barn yesterday adding a few more in order to make the pathways wider. It is now much easier pushing our green trolley in and out.
This green trolley has to be the most useful piece of equipment we have on the smallholding at the moment. Jack uses it every day to carry straw, hay, feed and truggs of old bedding once she has mucked out. Without it she simply could not do the jobs she has to (or she’d die of exhaustion trying...). In places it leaves a muddy tire track or two but actually it is not that heavy on the land considering the heavy loads it carries.
The only problem we have with it is that the sheep associate it with food and whenever they see or hear it they come running!! Daft things!!
Today the wind has been really strong again but at least when it comes without any rain is very drying… tomorrow we are set fair before the wind and the rain return on Wednesday night. And to think we may have lambs being born in the midst of all this!!!
