Cows and Tim's hay
Last October we bought a load of hay from our usual supplier at that time, Tim, and rather shockingly, it was unanimously rejected by all our animals. It was a bit of a scary moment as we had to source a new supplier and quickly. We also felt very guilty about no longer being able to use Tim! We did manage however, to ‘persuade’ the animals to eventually eat Tim’s hay by (over several weeks) mixing it in with the new hay we subsequently got from a new supplier, Andrew!
Relaxed at Home
We didn’t however feel we could get more from Tim, just incase, until now that is. One of the theories was that the hay was ‘too fresh’! It had been bailed over a glorious August bank holiday weekend and may just have been too rich. We decided however, that a few months down the line, it might be safe to try it again and so yesterday we took delivery of a few more bales!! Well, the image shows that our decision was a good one: all four cows went absolutely mad for it and today the goats, sheep and alpacas have been similarly impressed! We cannot really explain why our animals are happy to eat it now but we are very glad they are.
