As grass growth lessens and daylight hours continue to shrink, we are starting to put out more and more hay for the animals! Alpacas need and enjoy hay all year round but as they are now eating more during the course of a day, we have given them their own set of hay racks so they no longer have to use the sheep one. At head height, these also suit their 'browsing' tendencies better.
The sheep of course would like it acknowlegded that as they have allowed the alpacas to use their rack these last few weeks, they feel very inclined to now use theirs.. and the alpacas, being the uncomplaining creatures they are, have no problems with this!!
