Today we gave in and brought the cows back up to the barn. They came so readily and carefully, being under strict orders from Jack NOT to run back up and so leave great ‘hoof holes’ in the land. Being over half way through their pregnancies helped as they are looking quite big now and so serious running is maybe not an option for them. For Jack it is now back to an extra hour mucking out each day...The harder job is actually getting the truggs up to the compost heap and emptying them. Even with the wonderful muck truck, it’s hard work: cow poo is VERY heavy!!
But all of course worth it, in order for the land not to get too poached!!!
