We decided to take advantage of the good weather and quick drying land by putting the sheep and alpacas in with the cows and so totally resting all of the 4-acre field. This way, it should now really start to recover and have some fabulous grass quite early on in the spring (weather permitting). In the meantime this partially fallen Ash branch provided food and amusement for the sheep and they eagerly tucked into the juicy buds. The alpacas meanwhile got their heads down into the grass.
We are feeling very lucky with the land, a) in having enough to be able to rotate and rest like this and b) in it being so dry mid Feb and having the stock out!! We are a little worried what March will bring after last year but we will keep our fingers crossed!!
