Our quest to sell all our 2018 born poultry and so be left with just our breeding groups (or in the case of the chickens, a sensible number for eggs), is going well. We have now sold all the turkey youngsters and so have our quintet back on their own and tomorrow all our spare hens (about 10) are to be picked up too. Someone else has reserved the spare ducks and is set to pick them up next week. We should then be down to a mere 40 birds!!! Once we are, we will then start planning our hatching programme in earnest, although want to be sensible and not hatch too much (not that we say that every year...). This will of course depend on certain birds NOT disappearing into hedgerows and then reappearing 3 weeks later with a brood. Hedgerow Broody, you have been warned!!!
