Lucky enough to have hedgehogs!
In light of the continuing good weather and with a whole week of sunshine promised us next week, today we decided to ‘un-build’ the winter wall of straw at the back of the new barn, put there as a wind and rain break. The plan was to open up the back to the outside and so make the new barn the goats main inside space, shutting off the old barn completely (till kidding). The bales of straw were sat on pallets and as we moved the last ones, we saw what looked like an old brush head wedged in a gap between the wood. Said brush turned out to be a hibernating hedgehog who was NOT best pleased at being disturbed.
Relaxed at Home
We carefully relocated him to the pallets in the other corner , left there for the goats to climb/ sleep on. Either the hedgehog will carry on hibernating or decide that now he is awake, he might as well get on with looking for a mate and catching up with his meals. What a lucky find!!
