Wonderful willow
It may not look much but today we finally got the willow planted in the poultry area. The plan is to have a small hedge of willow following the path of water that comes down through the field in the hope the willow will soak some of it up. In addition we have planted a small copse in the middle of the wettest patch (within the wooden frame you can see in the photo). The wooden ‘pathway’ is there to cover up the worst of the mud as well as act as an initial protection for the growing trees…
Relaxed at Home
Our hope is that the trees will get quite well established over the coming months so that come winter, they 'drink' up more of the excess water than the grass is able to and so reduce the amount of mud we get. Sounds good – will it work??
