The new barn is perfect for the goats: we love the fact we can leave the back gate open and they can come and go as they please 24/7. With the layout working so well and the weather being so dry (albeit cold), we may well end up kidding in the here as opposed to giving them access to the old barn again. If we need more space we can always open up to where the cows were. We really are spoilt for choice now with indoor space. We have now matted the flooring (we had just had the straw on the bare earth before) but feel we will use less straw on the mats and that it won’t be as onerous for mucking out. The goats thoroughly enjoyed their fresh bedding and in typical ‘goat’ fashion proceeded to eat it!!!
