The amazing Queenie
We adore Queenie Bantam more than we thought it was possible to adore a chicken. She is a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She lays the tiniest, almost white eggs and goes broody at the slightest hint of warmth and daylight hours. She has raised chicks, poults, ducklings and goslings but is sensible enough not to put herself through the 'teenage' tantrums stage - at about 5/6 weeks she ups and just leaves them to it... (sensible mum..).
She is six years old now and has just recovered (we hope) from a bout of the 'sniffles'.
So why do some of our feathered friends inveigle their way under our skins more than others??? |
