Sadly we have lost two of our Harvey Speckled poults. One died in the first week, cause unknown and quite unexpected. The second died today. He had basically stopped growing and was literally half the size of his siblings.
All very odd!! We wonder whether the introduction of new birds (albeit ones we quarantined for a couple of days) has kick started some up-to-now dormant pathogens either in our birds or the new birds themselves. This is not uncommon when birds move around as the stress can compromise the immune sysyem. We hardly ever get new birds nowadays - but we have bought in a fair few turkeys this year.
Fingers crossed for the remaining four, although one isn’t look that great…
