BTEC Students
Today we had the pleasure of hosting our first BTEC Animal Care session and educating nineteen students on various aspects of goat health and husbandry. The planned afternoon, originally scheduled for once a month for the next year, has turned into an hour once a term and due to a late arrival, today's hour became 40 minutes. Jack talked a lot but also asked lots of questions and more or less got everything covered.
Relaxed at Home
The BTEC sylabus is very specific - it really does expect the young people to understand 'real' care issues such as poo consistency and it also teaches them, when doing a health head and face check, to examine eyes first, not the mouth; so they don't introduce microorganisms from dirty hands!!
They were a great group and hopefully went away with a bit more knowledge and understanding than when they arrived.
