And then there were none
Admist the winds, but thankfully zero rain, we loaded up the cows this afternoon into Andrew and Sarah's trailer and bid them a final and emotional farewell. The loading up went so smoothly: we basically rebuilt the race from the woodchip pad to the gated area into which Andrew had reversed his trailer, and there was really only one direction they could go.
It is weird feeling so sad about something that we have chosen to do but we know we have made the right decision. We had over three years with our dexters, we bought seven calves into the world, we turned a steer into the most mazing meat and we thoroughly enjoyed the journey. We know that the spring and summer will seem odd without them but hopefully we will enjoy our lambing and kidding even more and of course have more time for the rhea and other poultry and all our breeding plans there.
We realised the dream of owning cows and made a success of it: time now for other things!!!
The picture is from 2016 when they first arrived: Parsley, Sage and Thyme and the first 2 calves!!! That was 'such' long grass!!!
