Keeping on top of those 'to do' lists
Today was dry and often sunny: a very welcome change after the last few days and so we hit our smallholding/outside ‘to-do’ lists with renewed enthusiasm. There is generally a big difference about how this goes. David usually aims to get two to three things done on his list and pretty much always ends up with at least FOUR items being ticked off. Jack (!!) aims for at least five to six items but most of the time just two to three actually get done.
Still, in no particular order, this is what we both managed to do today: recently bought in feed loaded into feed bins; barn store sorted, tidied, cleaned and shelving put up; frame made for raised beds in greenhouse; flat trailer tyre removed and put in car ready to take to our ‘wheel fixer guy’ tomorrow; greenhouse windows cleaned; old plant pots emptied and cleaned; goat hooves trimmed; garage cleared of unwanted items ready for our ‘man with a van’ to collect (once we have sorted lean-to as well), plus all the usual feeding, mucking out and checking stock. (Muckle had a yellow bum today so now we have just ONE ewe to be mated (Bressay), lambing is now officially set to run for well over a whole month!!!) Our dinner of belly pork and chips was MUCH deserved!! |
