No matter what else is happening on the smallholding, when you have young stock around, there will always be something to bring a smile to your face. With the lambs now ranging from one to six weeks old, ‘lamb racing’ is very full-on at the moment and with 15 lambs in total it is not unusual to see most of them all taking part at once. Watching them career around the fields, leaping over the mole hills, the pallet assault course and at times, each other, reminds us of that famous mountaineering quote by Mallory. In answer to the question "Why did you want to climb Mount Everest?", his reply: "Because it's there". The lambs would undoubtedly give us a similar answer to the question: “Why do you race around like lunatics all day?” “Because we can!!!!” Cannot get more straightforward than that really!! Thyme is not a whole lot better today although is still eating, drinking, poo-ing and wandering around. Rachel said to give it 48 hours, so we shall!!!!
