Cuteness alert!!!
And here we have our very gorgeous looking bull-calf who is now a grand five and a half weeks old! He was born jet black but now seems to be turning a rather lovely ‘red’!! We are not sure why. He does have the cutest face though and he is also quite a character! His current favourite trick, along with Sage’s heifer calf, is to duck under the electric wire separating the main herd from Thyme, and then ‘really’ stressing his mum by not coming back!!!
Relaxed at Home
No news from Thyme herself although lots of lying down today and she has one very engorged teat!!!
Broodies still a nightmare – our egg to hatch rate will have plummeted by the time we are finished with this lot!! The worst that has happened today is 1 missing chick and 2 dead newly hatched chicks!! The best news is that all five our own Indian Game eggs, currently being sat on by our youngest Indian Game high up on top of the straw bales in the barn, are ALL fertile. We also have our first turkeys due to hatch on 25th which is very exciting!!!
