The waiting game!!
Dear Thyme is now three days overdue although that is not a cause for concern. She is perhaps a little more settled than she has been and no longer really bellows when she cannot see the other cows across the electric wire. She is often joined by the two calves mind you who, now they have discovered they can duck under the wire, do it on a regular basis. Sage does not bother too much now about her calf, but Parsley is obviously more of a ‘hands on’ mum as she gets quite cross about her bull-calf disappearing. He is definitely the ‘little monkey’ in all this.
Relaxed at Home
Thyme has been enjoying a few back and neck rubs, as she used to back in the winter/ early spring (before we ruined her trust in us by sticking needles in her…). We really hope that once she has calved she will be both happier and less suspicious of us – although of course she could turn out to be a really protective mum and not let us near her or the calf. As she is a first-timer, there are a lot of unknowns here...
