Our new ANs
Meet Coriander, Sorrell and Tarragon: our Anglo Nubian additions to the Relaxed smallholding. Sorrell and Coriander are mum and daughter and Tarragon is a half brother to Cori (as she will undoubtedly become known).
David drove to a village called West Dean, just outside Salisbury to collect them and from the moment we opened up the trailer, they have been impeccably behaved and incredibly relaxed.
Our current thinking is to use Tarragon to breed with Sorrel and so have pure AN kids in the spring and then next autumn when Coriander is old enough, to breed her with Pepper and get Boer/AN crosses. There will have to be some separating with males/females and Coriander will have to kept away from both billies this year. There are some challenging times ahead on that front, aside from our immediate aim of getting them all to mix together. After our experiences with Curds, Pickle, Cheddar and Gorge, there is definitely some nervousness thereā¦. |
