Pluto is doing really well – for the last three days he has been drinking the goat replacer milk with much enthusiasm, taking up to 1200ml over his eight feeds and when we weighed him this evening he was 8.9kg which means he has put on 300g in 4 days. This equates to a daily rate of 75g and a potential weekly rate of 525g. Half a kilo is the bottom end of the expected weight gain range BUT this is definitely a step in the right direction for him.
Rachel from Market Vets saw him yesterday and said how bright and bonny he looked and not at all underweight. This was so good to hear. We have definitely seen an improvement in his energy levels too. Today and he Mars were racing all over the place and whereas before it seemed to be Mars who kept going the longest, this afternoon’s races were pretty evenly matched. I think it helped that the sun was out – most of the animals seemed to have a bit more 'va-va-voom' after the damp and grey of the last week.
