Farewell to Pepper
Today we said goodbye to Pepper. Having decided after a lot of thought and deliberation to offer him for sale (see entry on 27th June), we then had very little response to our adverts. We were just at the stage where we were planning to put him and the wethers in the Collecting Area when we had a call from a family in Somerset who were after a billy for their ten doelings. A couple of phone calls and one visit later and the deed was done.
Relaxed at Home
Pepper has done us proud and he has been a joy to have around. We have loved the fact he has lived with the nannies and kids ALL the time and if it weren’t for the issue of needing to separate him over the winter in order to keep him away from Coriander, we may well have kept hold of him.
The plan now is to use a friend’s billy for the three nannies (Onion, Garlic and Sorrel) this autumn and then NEXT year when Coriander will be old enough to be mated with, we may well buy another one back in (and probably have to call him Pepper too...)
