Duckling dam!
This is a 'duckling dam': our very own 'live' version. Hilariously this duckling decided to sit at the entrance to the drainage gully in the poultry area and he literally stopped the flow of water coming down from the garden. We stood and watched and after a few minutes, he got up and waddled off and the water then rushed down into the pipe just as though someone had pulled a plug. Presumably the pressure of the water on the duckling’s body was a pleasant experience??
So yes, we have had a lot of rain again today and as we start to get all our big IBC tanks in place by our field shelters, it is becoming apparent just how much water we are going to be able to collect. In just one hour today, one tank became over a quarter full, that’s 250 litres of water!!!
It’s going to be great for providing water for the cows in the winter and bets are now on as to whether we will need to use the hosepipe at all whilst the cows are in their woodchip pad!!!
