All clear!!
In great news, Sorrel’s tests have come back clear! She was tested for Johnes and CAE. CAE (Caprine arthritis encephalitis) is a viral disease which causes weight loss, poor hair condition and enlarged joints/ lameness. Johnes (pronounced ‘Yoh-nees’) is a bacterial infection that causes weight loss and diarrhea. Neither condition is curable!
So great news and we also continue to feel that our new feeding regime is making a difference. What we are not clear on is whether Sorrel can ever go back to eating just goat mix and that is a question that probably only time will answer.
Our plan now is to continue to try to get weight on her and then in a couple of weeks review, and see where we are. At that point we may then make some decisions re kidding and whether we still want to take Sorrel and Onion to Jacqui’s to mate with her registered Boer billy!!!
