Turkey launch!!
The turkeys are quite fabulous. They are going through their ‘get as high as we can’ phase and literally every morning at the moment, they emerge from the stables, head for the barn and then spend a merry morning getting up onto the barn, workshop and potting shed roofs!
Our hearts are usually in our mouths when we see them getting back down mind you! We do marvel at the way they launch themselves off the buildings and manage to land without breaking a leg! No mean feat when they are so heavy and not, being honest, the greatest of flyers.
We wonder why the turkey is so curious and loves to explore so much. It is not perhaps a natural behaviour for a bird that can so easily be taken by predators!!! Round here they are (hopefully) fairly safe to get up to all sorts – lucky them and lucky us!!!
