Storm Ophelia
Storm Ophelia brushed against us today with high winds and a spit or two of rain, but more impressively, it gave us this bright red sun and moody sky first thing this morning.
We did okay, parts of Ireland and the north coast of Devon and Cornwall suffered quite badly with flooding and destruction of property!
Wind is of course very drying and as it all quietened down and we took the dogs for an evening run on our 3 acre fields, we remarked that the land was probably the driest it has been for weeks and weeks. We have toyed with the idea of putting the sheep back in the top 3-acre but run the risk of them shedding a few worm eggs on the pasture. As the cows were the last to graze on there, in theory the pasture could be quite clean and we don’t want to jeopardise that!!!
We are due more ‘weather’ this coming weekend, courtesy of Storm Brian – this one may hit us a bit more directly!!!
It is comforting to know, always, that all our animals have somewhere safe and secure to go in times of bad weather – as indeed do we!! |
