A mother’s love….
This is Thyme who, whilst I mucked out this morning, spent a good ten minutes just licking and nuzzling Caraway who simply lay on the woodchip, thoroughly enjoying the attention!! It was fabulous and heart-warming to see!
And in other good news, we have had virtually no bellowing today so things are definitely far more settled thank goodness!!
The Winter Pad is working well, having one less cow in there compared to last year makes a difference in term of both 'poo' (obviously) and also harmony. Thyme is 'top cow', whereas last year it was Parsley with Thyme being at the bottom. Sage (who we have since sold) WANTED to be top dog though and whilst at the time we thought all was relatively peaceful, this year we are seeing virtually no shoving and pushing (so far) at all.
The four of them also seem to be much cleaner with very little poo in the houses, most of it being outside on the woodchip. This makes it easier to clear up and should mean we use less straw!! We are of course only on day six so all this could change!!!! Drastically change... |
