Queen of all she surveys...
Our duck numbers currently stand at ten as we still have four of this year’s youngsters. Along with their parents (including Banana, pictured below), they spend their days thoroughly enjoying free ranging and first thing in the morning most have a good fly around, usually landing on various roofs before heading back to the poultry area and having a bite to eat.
Slightly more worryingly, some of the youngsters and often now, one or more of the adults, have also taken to sleeping on the stable roof. We don’t appear to have a fox problem and even if we did we would hope that the ducks would not fly down off the roof before daybreak but nonetheless, if they are not in the stable overnight, they 'are' more vulnerable. Trouble is we cannot really do anything about it, short of climbing up a ladder with a long stick and shoo-ing them down, but we’d need a big ladder and a very, very long stick so don’t really fancy that option!!! Fingers crossed they just continue to look after themselves!!!
