Pebbles
And here is the lovely Pebbles, a somewhat nervous and anxious Pebbles, but this is more than understandable having been taken away from her large herd and brought here on her own. Early this afternoon, we dropped off Carlos and then went to pick her up, having done a quick clean of the pen in order that it was then ready to receive her. We did not totally get rid of his smell, that will take a while!! He was a very smelly billy goat!!
Pebbles reminds us of Curds a lot, she has her eyes and her nose and especially her ears and her 'nervous' look is just like her mum’s as well. The other goats said a quick hello before we then put Pebbles in her stall to spend a (hopefully) quiet, calm night on her own. Pebbles is in kid to a Guernsey cross and is due early April, she is in fact the first animal due to give birth next year as she was served back in November. This will be her first kidding as last year she came into milk without kidding and as such her previous owners decided NOT to put her to the billy as being in milk was more important to them than having kids. She is in great heath and whilst moving her now is obviously stressful, we hope she will settle quickly and go on to have a trouble free pregnancy. We are beyond excited that we now have three goats, all in kid and, touch wood, all looking like they are going to get along just fine!! This is very different to last year!!! |
