Today was such a beautiful day, sunny, very little breeze, an illusion of spring? A year ago tomorrow we let the cows out of their winter quarters back onto grass! There is not even a small chance of the ground drying up enough today so we could let them out in 24 hours!! They seem happy enough in the barn but we would quite like to reclaim the two hours a day we spend mucking them out. It is much easier in the barn than it was in their Cow Pad but in addition to the time, we are getting through the straw and at this rate will run out before this year’s harvest in August. This time last year we also had lambs and kids, thank goodness we planned it later this year, although with just under three weeks to go we are a tad worried about how wet it still might be!!
