Our 2018 calves!
Thyme’s calf finally decided it was time to put in an appearance yesterday. We missed the birth, having decided after a week of monitoring her that she would just get on with it in her own sweet time (no pun intended). It is a huge bull calf who we cannot believe ever fitted inside her as she looked a lot smaller than last year!

He was still a bit damp when we found him, around 5ish but Thyme was in control and we having given him a quick looking-over, we left them to it. A couple of hours later he was dry and had obviously suckled: just how we like it!
And THEN, around 6om today, we discovered that Parsley didn’t want Thyme taking all the glory and so had popped her calf out too: this time a very pretty heifer calf who by the time we found her was totally dry and looking very alert!!
And so that brings to an end our kidding, lambing and calving for the 2018 (no cria this year) and what a bumper crop: 18 youngsters: 8 females and 10 males and touch wood, all doing really well!! So, so lucky!!!
