Our new toy: a ‘topper’. Whilst the grass growth is somewhat pitiful at the moment due to lack of rain, the 4-acre field (and indeed areas in both the two 3-acre fields), had(has) quite a lot of grass with tall seedheads. Our topper therefore has ‘topped’ it and in doing so, hopefully will now encourage new growth! Grass, as we all know, responds to being cut back and as such our hope is this field will bounce back ready for some mid to late summer grazing for the livestock. BUT we will need some rain to help with this and sadly, virtually none is forecast for the next two weeks at least!!!
