Unbelievably, it is over a month since we discovered we had red mite in our poultry stable but we do feel we are winning!! Most nights now when we look we see a few individuals and we have not seen a ‘cluster’ of them anyway for .a while. We need to remain vigilant however and still check every night, armed with dettol and diatom in equal measures!! They are hideous and persistent little buggers! Fortunately, as these red combs show, they arenot causing major problems for the birds.
