And here is the rather handsome Soldier, our dad to be for our goat kids next spring. He is on loan from our friend Jacqui and we will keep him here for a good three weeks, the usual cycle time for female goats. Onion was in season yesterday, as mentioned in the blog but judging by her 'shyness' (or was it standoffishness) when she met Soldier this afternoon, she had definitely 'gone off the boil' today. She should return anytime from Boxing Day so hopefully Soldier will get the chance to perform then. We have to house Soldier in his own space as we cannot have him running with the girls 24/7 in case Garlic comes into season as she is of course, way too young to mate.
We are mega excited about seeing the offspring we get from Soldier. The AN /Boer crosses will be fab and it will also be lovely to have some pure Boers again too.
