We have modified the back of the new barn in light of the fact it was allowing in too much wind by ‘cleverly’ stacking our straw there to act as a wall. We actually now want the south westerly winds to return to test it!!
This cleverness has also freed up space at the front so we can now house the cows – which was always a potential plan when we had it rebuilt. The goats will still have access to some of the back from their stalls in the old barn. As indeed will we. We now have the ability to house all the animals in the barns/adjoining field shelters if needs be and so have them all in ‘one’ space. If we have another beast from the east this winter, that could prove very useful.
This is our third winter here and we are proud we have the infrastructure sorted as well as we have!! (although we are sure a few 'cracks' will appear as the months progress!!
