Yesterday we took delivery of 50 more bales of hay and tomorrow we have 120 of straw arriving. All smallholders experience a huge sense of calm when their barns and sheds are full of fodder and bedding... the prospect of running out is a very scary thought.
With the cows out and it being so dry mind you, our usage of both straw and hay is set to really go down, already this last week we used HALF of what we had used the previous week.. and at £5 a bale for the hay, that is quite a considerable saving each week.
We are so hoping this good weather continues.....
