Don't burst the bubble
It has been an exhausting week of mucking out; mud control; taking delivery of yet more hay bales (which we have to wheelbarrow through the garden as the land is too saturated to drive on); building a false floor above wet concrete; lugging loads of 25kg bags of feed into the feed store; digging out trenches; re-strawing field shelters and spring cleaning the poultry stable (yes, we know it's the winter). We have articles still to finish; an untouched folder full of the day job emails called 'To do over Christmas' 😂; livestock health records to update; filing (ugh...) and ice cream still to make (cream use-by-date was yesterday).
BUT, today the sun shone, pretty much all day, and after a couple of weeks of being inside, we let the sheep, lambs and alpacas back out on to the grass!!! Deep sigh of contentment at seeing happy, grazing animals doing what they do best, heads down munching (apart from one of the wethers that is whose excitement at being back with his mum slightly got the better of him). AND as we shut up the poultry tonight the noise from the blackbirds and robins as they serenaded the sunset, was just beautiful. We've had the shortest day, we have no rain forecast for a fortnight and spring feels ridiculously close... We know it's actually only the start of winter but don't burst our bubble, just yet... |
