Hedging and fencing
Despite the terrible weather, we are making progress with the new growing area. Fencing and posts are now bought and the gates have had their furniture attached and are ready and waiting to be put up. We have also trimmed back the hedge along the back. It is mainly blackthorne so we have put all the cuttings between us and the Govier's field where we are growing a new hedge. The blackthorne will help to make the space more stock proof and provide a bit more of a windbreak as the grass grows up around it.
We have also been pacing the area out and working out where the polytunnel should go, and a fruit cage so we can grow more raspberries and blueberries. We bought a fruit cage ages ago to use in the poultry area to house young chicks and ducklings, but have now decided to use it for the purpose it was intended. We are getting very excited... |
