1st: All strawed out
Fresh straw for all our pregnant ladies (and friends..) - Garlic we are now 99% sure is not however, one of the pregnant ones!!!

2nd: And more
Today we gave the poultry more straw, we are far more generous than we would be if they were not inside but in being confined, the straw is a bit of a boredon-buster!! We do so hope the lockdown is over by the end of the month!!

3rd: Consenting adults
There is some serious flirting going on in the rhea field!!

4th: Triplets
We have the most enormous grins on our faces!!! After the tragedy of Sorrel's still-born kid a couple of weeks ago, her daughter Coriander has just made all our days by giving birth to the most beautiful, bonny and sturdy set of triplets: 1 girl and 2 boys!! Sorrel is a granny once again and the line lives on. Coriander gave birth to triplets 2 years ago (as a first-timer) and it was all a bit traumatic for her. This time, despite the last boy coming our backwards (with only a little help needed from us), she is totally on top: attentive, patient and thoroughly enjoying being a mum again!!
Those colours, those ears, those faces!! We are so so proud of her!!!

5th: Scarlet Elfcup
This is possibly Scarlet Elfcup fungi (we are no experts), discivered in the hedge behind the poultry area: utterly beautiful and apparently edible (not that we were going to try).

6th: Freedom
Dogs racing across our own fields at dusk: nothing like it!!

9th: Chestnut gives birth
We are super cute, and yes we do know it!!! This pair popped into the world today, first time mum, and we went down first thing to find them dry as can be and sleeping off the exertions of being born and filling their bellies with milk. A perfect way to greet new life!!!

14th: Snuggles
All five of our kids snuggled under the milking bench this evening - mega cute!!! This why we love goats!! Well, one of the many reasons

Fabulous birds!!!

16th: Earning their keep
Our cats, spoilt house cats that they are, are most definitely earning their keep - this was a whopping nine inches long (not including the tail)! We would however, rather NOT have found it behind our bed first thing this morning, especially when we were walking around bare foot and bleary eyed.

..and super cute

19th: Pipping!
First goose egg to pip!!! Not doing well this year so far, fails on the first two batches - 3 and then 5 fertile eggs and both sets didn't make it to pipping. And if this one does make it out, he/she (looks like a he so far) will be goose home alone till next week at least!!

20th: Turkeys
A turkey stag really is a wonder to behold in full blown 'show-off' mode - no wonder the girls find him irresistible (even if his actual mating technique is somewhat questionable). Hoping for eggs any day now, last year the first one was laid on 23rd of this month!!!!

21st: Sparrow
Sparrow really is a fine looking dog - so proud of how she is developing!

Perfect day for harrowing here in North Devon today, and though we say it ourselves, we are rather proud of those lines

27th: Let go
These ladies really do need to 'let go' now. The weather is set fair; they have a reasonable amount of grass and a lovely dry, straw-filled shelter - we are good to go girls.. seriously... time to welcome the little ones into the world....

29th: Pals
Thanks to Tracie and Tony at T&t Poultry, our lone gosling now has 2 pals, one rouen and one cayuga duck!! All happily esconsed in their rat proof aviary, running around and making a lot of noise!! Never like seeing animals on their own of any species - so we are happy bunnies too!!
